DOTHAN, Ala. (May 26, 2016) – At a press conference today Toadlick Music Festival announced a partnership with Mike Schmitz Automotive Groups where the business will cover the cost of admittance so that all active and retired military who want to attend the festival can do so for free. With Memorial Day this weekend, Toadlick wanted to honor our troops by finding a partner in the community to reward those who have served and found that with Dothan Mayor Mike Schmitz.
“Each and every day the men and woman of our military (and their families) sacrifice so that we may live under the banner of freedom. Mike Schmitz Automotive Groups is honored and humbled to be able to partner with Toadlick, this is the least we can do to show our gratitude, admiration, and respect to all those past, present, and future who defend our Nation. Go, enjoy, and thank you for your service,” Mayor Schmitz.
Retired and active military will be able to show military ID with member status at the different gates of the festival and enter for free to see headliners Kid Rock, Alabama, Justin Moore and many more June 2-4 at the National Peanut Festival Fairgrounds. Celebrating their fifth year, Toadlick will also host a second stage (Stage B) this year to offer festival-goers even more music with. People coming from as far away as Canada, California, New York and even Ireland are making the trek to lower Alabama for Toadlick 2016. Named as Dothan’s Largest Event by the Dothan Area Convention & Visitors Bureau, the organization recognized the value of the event and became an official partner with the festival to offer travelers hotel accommodations. “After five years of doing this festival with the help of my family and friends, I am so happy to have the support of this community and through that be able to honor our veterans this year. I can’t thank everyone enough for all the work they have put into making my dream a reality and for making Toadlick 2016 the best year yet,” says Toadlick President, Chris Gilbert.
The dates for this year’s festival were moved back to June from late April to accommodate the bad weather that has dampened the Toadlick experience. Patrons will be able to stay cool with new amenities including cooling stations throughout the festival, large air-conditioned tent, bumper balls, a large slip-n-slide, and inflatable water slides. Although outside drinks are prohibited, festival-goers can bring empty water bottles to fill at multiple water stations onsite. The first ever Toadlick Cornhole Tournament will give participants the chance to upgrade their festival experience by winning TIP Tower Tickets daily.
Gates will open at noon everyday with music starting on Stage B shortly after on all three days of the festival. Music will start on Stage A at 5 pm on Thursday and Friday. Music will start on Stage A at 3:30 pm on Saturday. Toadlick After Parties will begin at midnight every night after the headliner’s set ends on Stage A. Stage B times will be announced next week.
