This fall music lovers are invited to experience the first ever songwriters festival held in beautiful southwest Florida. The Island Hopper Songwriters Festival will take place over two weekends, Sept 26-28 on Captiva Island and October 3-5 on Fort Myers Beach. The festival will be multi venue, clustered and walkable. The songwriters for each weekend were planned to reflect the unique vibe in each coastal town. Captiva Island is traditionally uber laid back with island charm. Fort Myers has more of a fun funky feel to it with no building taller than a palm tree. The area is simply magical and has been a source of inspiration for writers, artists, and musicians for generations.
Scotty Emerick, who had over 50 songs recorded by Toby Keith, will be headlining the festival. Joining him will be songwriters Austin Church, Billy Montana, Brandon Fontes, Brent Moyer, Chloe, Cory Young, Danny Myrick, Dylan Altman, Even Stevens, Frank Myers, Gary Hannan, George Ducas, Jeff Cohen, Jeff Prince, Joe Sun, Jordan Miller, Kevn Kinney, Kendell Marvell, Kristen Kelly, Kylie Sackley, Loving Mary, Marshall Altman, Megan Linville, Niko Moon, Paul McDonald, Phil O’Donnell, Phillip White, Ruth Collins, Sonia Leigh, Tim James, Tim McGeary, Will Bowen, Wynn Varble.
Shows like ABC’s Nashville have highlighted songwriter rounds at places like The Bluebird Cafe. The rounds are becoming more popular than stadium shows in many cases. There is something indescribable about sitting in a room hearing first hand stories of how the song came together, sharing a heartfelt moment, or laughing along with individuals that simply bleed creativity.
The Beaches of Fort Myers and Sanibel is giving someone a chance to perform at the festival through their “Song and Chance” contest. You simply need to upload a video singing your favorite song and get the most likes to win. Details for the contest can be found HERE.
