NASHVILLE, Tenn. (January 11, 2018) – Alongside the opening slot on the 12-city Granger Smith winter tour, Smithfield will be embarking on their debut billboard/mediabase radio tourin support of breakout ballad, “Hey Whiskey.” The Billboard ‘You Should Know’ country duo’s‘aching’ (Rolling Stone Country) single has sold more than 55K downloads, has been streamed more than 2.5 million times on Spotify and the video has racked up more than 1.4 million views on YouTube.
The groundbreaking duo consisting of Jennifer Fielder and Trey Smith announced the news at their show in Nashville last night stating, “Four years ago we wrote a song called “Hey Whiskey.” We took in in to our label at the time and were told it was ‘too dark and too depressing.’ We eventually put it in our live show and the fans connected to it instantly so when we got the chance to make our record, we had to put the song on it. This time last year we were on this very stage and we toasted with all of you because SiriusXM The Highway picked it up, Spotify was supporting it and CMT had it in rotation. The song took on a life of its own and before we knew it everyone was singing along to it at our shows. We are so excited to announce tonight that we are taking this monster to country radio in 2018! We want more and more people to be touched by it because music is supposed to make you feel something and as songwriters and artists, that is all we have ever wanted to accomplish.”
The Texas bred twosome is proving time and time again that there are no mountains they cannot climb. The success of “Hey Whiskey” on SiriusXM The Highway quickly caught the attention of industry and fans alike while it topped the SXM Hot 30 Countdown chart week after week and the music video made its world premiere on CMT. Smithfield now regularly performs on theGrand Ole Opry stage, has made their Ryman Auditorium debut and recently headlined a show at the infamous Billy Bobs Texas.
