Up and coming artist, Seth Ennis, has released his debut single, “Woke Up In Nashville.” There are two reasons why I immediately knew I would love this song.
1 : Seth Ennis is singing it.
2 : It talks about Nashville. [ Is there a greater city?? I think not… ]
I’m not even going to pretend that I’m unbiased, because Seth is one of my favorite artists. He is humble, talented, genuine, hard working, and one of the nicest people I’ve ever met.
Most artists do not release a ballad for their debut single. I love that Seth and his team decided to go against the norm and chose “Woke Up In Nashville” for his first release. The song starts out with just Seth and a piano. We hear of a guy who followed his heart to Nashville. He wakes up one day and realizes he can’t live without the girl he had to leave behind while pursuing his dreams.
“Thought everything I wanted was in this town, but you were all that I needed all along, yeah it took me long enough, but I woke up…”
He calls her and tells her he was wrong to think he could ever do without her. He’s working on his dream, but she is all he can think about. It seems that it’s all for nothing if they can’t be together.
“Those Broadway lights don’t shine the way that your eyes did, when they were staring back, right back at mine. Been trying to live with only half of my heart, just sleep walking in the Tennessee dark. If I can’t make every memory with you, then dreaming is just sleeping here with out you.”
I absolutely love those lyrics. I love the image I get in my mind of her eyes shining like the Broadway lights by simply looking at him. The whole song is perfectly written and the lyrics are delivered with a passion that grabs you from the beginning. If I had never heard of Seth Ennis before this song, I would still highly recommend it. He has a big future ahead of him, and “Woke Up In Nashville” is going to quickly get him the attention he deserves.
