There is the universal, age-old, devil’s advocate dilemma we all face at some point in our lives – do you potentially risk everything to follow your dreams or do you cut your losses and travel down the well worn practical path?
Misty Rae Carson found herself at that point. Her single, “Woke Up One Day” (co-written with Robert Ellis), tells the route she has chosen to take with her music.
“Woke Up One Day is the song that kind of brought me back to life. I never saw myself as someone who would settle down and stay in one house all my life – I had always dreamed of traveling the world by way of making music, but Nashville can be a tough town. Somewhere along the way I just stopped dreaming. I woke up and just stopped dreaming. That’s why I chose it for the single because I am going back to dreaming and investing everything I have emotionally and physically into my music again. This song defines the new season I’m finding myself in and I think a lot of people are going to relate to it.”
The song has been compared to Kacey Musgraves’ “Merry-Go-Round” and for good reason. Merry go rounds go up and down, just like dreams – sometimes they’re attainable, sometimes just out of reach. Misty’s song will get you to thinking – what is my purpose and how can I achieve it? Her debut EP, Mystery, will be released June 17 on Little Loud Records.
