No matter your age, it is heartbreaking when someone close to you passes away. In tribute to a good friend, J J Lawhorn wrote “Good Ol’ Boys Like Us“ from him album Original Good Ol’ Boy, and it’s a 5-hankie song.
Straight to the heart, J J sings “… Cause God’s got a spot in heaven For good ol’ boys like us Yea he knows wings just ain’t our thing So up there they drive pick up trucks …”
There is comfort, even through heart searing pain, in knowing your friend is truly in a better place. I also believe, as does J J, that our loved ones become our guardian angels and watch over us. God bless J J for this song!
