When you watch the blind auditions on “The Voice,” you hear a lot of diverse and amazing talent that makes you wonder “Why haven’t I heard of these people before?” But sometimes you see a name that’s very familiar and you brag to everyone else watching “I know who that is!” For those of us who have been writing about the industry, watching Meghan Linsey‘s blind audition during this week’s Season 8 premiere was one of those moments.
The former female half of Steel Magnolia has been making her own mark in Country this past year with her solo debut EP (read my review HERE). But for the audition, she brought out her inner power balladeer with a soulful rendition of the 1970s rock hit “Love Hurts.”
Love wasn’t hurting for Meghan after that performance! She turned all but, shockingly, Blake Shelton‘s chair and joined Team Pharrell.
Check out the performance here and see Blake explain why it was better that he didn’t end up vying for his friend and former tourmate.
Meghan was feeling the love on Twitter from her fans:
@meghanlinsey I was so excited for your performance I am so happy you’re on the show! Can’t wait to see more of you xo
