James Otto is back with new music, a new sound and even a new team around him. The country crooner, known for his smash hit “Just Got Started Lovin’ You” and for co-writing the ACM and CMA Song of the Year, “In Color,” has returned to airwaves with new music. His new single “Somewhere Tonight,” written by Otto, Corey Crowder, Patrick Davis, JT Hodges and James Slater can be heard exclusively on SiriusXM’s The Highway and is available for digital download HERE.
After taking a step back from the spotlight to focus on his family and hone his songwriting, Otto returned to the studio to record music that he feels reveals a renewed promise he made to himself long ago: to create his own distinctive sound in country music.
“Somewhere Tonight” is proof that his hiatus was worth the risk, with relatable and catchy lyrics that so easily paint the picture of crisp fall night with lines like “music’s playing, bonfires blazing like a Vegas sky.” Otto hopes that his fans will relate to the fact that, “With all the things that happen in life, sometimes you just need to break out and that’s exactly what this song is about. It’s saying, ‘I just want to go somewhere tonight. I wanna forget about all the stress and pressure at work and the busy schedules. I just want to get out, and have some fun.’”
With a 2008 CMA award and a 2009 ACM award for Song of the Year for “In Color” (Jamey Johnson) as well as two GRAMMY nominations, Otto has earned himself the reputation of being one of Nashville’s most captivating songwriters. He is back with a new look, a new team and new music, but with the same great voice that has been tabbed as one of Nashville’s strongest.
