Got Country – First of all, I love your new album These Are the Days. The first track, “Night in the Life,” immediately shows us it’s totally different than your “My Own Worst Enemy” sound. How natural was the progression to be where you are now musically?
Lit – Thank you! Glad you dig the new album!
I think it may sound different than “My Own Worst Enemy” but I think that fans that have followed us over the years have seen a progression. We’ve spent a lot of time in Nashville over the years and the progression has been very natural and organic. I think we are as confident right now as we’ve ever been about the music we are making.
Got Country – What does a typical day look like when you’re visiting Nashville?
Lit – Well my house is in East Nashville so maybe I’ll take a walk over to The Post for some breakfast. Head into town around noon to write. Hook up with some buddies for dinner. Wind up in Mid Town for drinks. Try to not get kicked out of Red Door. Haha.
Got Country – Do you have a favorite track on the new album?
Lit – Right now I’m really loving “Someday, Maybe.” It’s been going over great on the road. It’s so hard to pick one. I love them all. “Back With You” is another one of my favorites. We’ve also been getting a ton of response from “Wish I Was On It.” It’s fun watching it unfold once people have had a chance to live with it for a couple weeks.
Got Country – What inspired your current single “Good Problem to Have?”
Lit – It was written by some of our really good buddies, Corey Crowder, Michael Hobby, Cale Dodds, and Neil Mason. We heard it one night while we were hanging’ with Crowder and we were like “Wait a minute….. play that one again!” We were super stoked that nobody had cut it yet and we felt like it was a perfect fit for our album.
Got Country – What was it like to have Corey Crowder produce the album? I swear anything he touches turns to gold.
Lit – Corey is the man! Such a great guy and a talented dude in the studio and in the writing room. We’ve never walked out of the room not loving what we made with him.
Got Country – What do you hope the future of Lit looks like?
Lit – We’re going to keep making up songs and hitting the road. It’s what we do. Right now we have 8 shows left of a 60 show Summer tour. So we’re looking forward to getting home for a short breather. Pet the family and kiss the pets. Catch some of my son’s football games. Then we’ll take off again and bring the rock show to a town near you!
