There’s just something special about the South. It’s not about geography as much as it is a state of mind marked by fierce independence, authenticity and an appreciation for the things in life that truly matter. Daniel Lee’s music is the soundtrack to that lifestyle. Like the young Georgia native himself, it incorporates rural values yet has a little rock edge and intensity, but ultimately it’s not rock. It’s not country. It’s Southern.
With one listen to “Roots“, Lee’s debut album on Average Joe’s Entertainment, it’s obvious the singer/songwriter has a gift for turning life experience into memorable music. His songs are populated with country boys who know how to work hard and party harder on songs like the infectious single “Backwoods Tobacco” yet he knows how to delve into life’s more challenging moments on tunes like the heartbreak anthem “For Sale Sign.” He’s delivered an album that explores the wide spectrum of human experience with a depth of emotion not often found in an artist so young. He possesses the rockin’ intensity of Tom Petty combined with the earnest everyman soul of Merle Haggard, but comparisons are essentially unfair because Lee has taken his varied influences and simmered them down into his own unique musical stew.
To celebrate the release of “Roots” which hits stores on July 22, GotCountryOnline will be holding a Twitter Party with Daniel to discuss his album, touring and so much more. Make sure to follow @DanielLeeMusic and @GotCountry on Twitter, and as always to join the conversation and ask Daniel a questions yourself use #GotCountry.
We look forward to kickin’ off this Twitter party with Daniel, and YOU!
