So the showers of April have passed (unless you live in Florida. Get ready for the rainy season) and the flowers of May are blooming. Love is in the air, the weather is getting warmer and everyone is starting to brace themselves for summer. Compiled is the May list of songs that will get you through finals, the work days you just want to be outside and the songs that may hold a special place in your heart.
“River Bank” – Brad Paisley: When you hear Brad on the radio, you know it’s Brad. Paisley merges his signature sound of steel guitar and heavy guitar rhythms with a story (and in typical Brad style, you’ll find yourself chuckling). As the month of May begins the summer season, you’ll find yourself grooving along and dreaming of the summer days to come.
“Show You Off” – Dan + Shay: Scheduled to hit airways on May 12th, the second single off of their debut album “Where It All Began” is projected to be a big hit for the new duo. In addition to their perfect harmonies just listen to the lyrics…. Who doesn’t want to be with someone who wants to show them off? *melt*
“Who I Am With You” – Chris Young: We are in the season of proms, weddings, and declarations of love and if there is anyone in country music who knows how to sing the hell out of a love song, it’s Chris Young. “I’ve got a ways to go on this ride/ But I got a hand to hold that fits just right/ You make me laugh, you make me high,/ You make me want to hold on tight, ’cause/ Who I am with you is who I really want to be/ You’re so good for me/ And when I’m holdin’ you, it feels like I’ve got the world in my hands/ Yeah, a better man is who I am with you”. How could you not feel something listening/reading those lyrics? Anticipated to be the music to many proposals and first dances around the country.
“My Eyes” – Blake Shelton: Ladies, you are straight up lying or cray cray if you can imagine Blake staring at you with those baby blues while this song plays and not break a sweat. If the increase in temperatures where not hot enough for you, definitely listen to this single.
“Sunshine & Whiskey” – Frankie Ballard: This is just a feel-good song. From Frankie’s opening lyrics to the last riff of the guitar you can’t help but smile and sway to this song. Following his #1 single “Helluva Life”, this should be another irresistible hit for Ballard.
“Hope You Get Lonely Tonight” – Cole Swindell: Swindell’s newest single was featured on the April playlist as well but still gaining rotation across the nation it is going to be a constant throughout the month.
“I Don’t Dance” – Lee Brice: Written as a wedding gift for his wife, Brice shows pure emotion when he performs this song live. Another perfect wedding song on this list, it’s a vulnerable testament of what we’re willing to do for the ones we love.
“Take the Keys” – Leah Turner: The newcomer in country radio and opening act for the upcoming Brad Paisley 2014 tour has already made a mark with this debut single.
“Friday Night” – Eric Paslay: This breakout debut by Paslay has been out for some time but it still has the same effect on listeners as it did when it first aired. It’s also the perfect driving song for when the days last a little longer and the air is still a bit cooler.
“Whatever She’s Got” – David Nail: This is just an amazing song. As with our #9 selection it has been in rotation a bit, however it has such a laid back groove, it’s perfect for unwinding before summer begins.
