Dakota Bradley grew up like most kids, participating in sports and always looking for friendly basketball game, but his life quickly changed when he found an old guitar at his family’s home and learned to play. After tackling some Rock and Roll classics, he discovered Country Music and the heartfelt lyrics and stories that come with it. Once his family made the move to Nashville, they experienced some hardships which gave Dakota the inspiration and drive to continue in following his dreams.
It was not long after, a YouTube performance Dakota made with a friend caught the attention of Ellen DeGeneres, which also came with an invitation to perform on her show. Things began falling in to place as he was then offered a record deal, and met one of the biggest names in Country Music, Tim McGraw, who quickly became one of his biggest supporters.
We caught up with Dakota Bradley to elaborate a little more on what exactly all of this means to him.
GCO: Who were some of your musical influences growing up?
DB: “I grew up listening to blues artists like Stevie Ray Vaughan and Chuck Berry. I discovered country when I was 15 years old and heard the guitar playing of Keith Urban and Vince Gill. I immediately fell in love. I have loved country music ever since I first heard the storyline of the songs.”
GCO:How does it feel to have the support of one of Country’s biggest names, Tim McGraw?
DB: “Honestly, it is the most special thing in my life. Tim and Byron Gallimore have taken me under their wing and changed my whole life. It feels so amazing to have the support of those two guys.”
Only a few years in to his career and Dakota has already rubbed elbows with some of country music’s finest. We we’re curious to know who he would one day like to work with, and his answer did not surprise me.
GCO: Who would be your dream collaboration?
DB:“My dream collaboration would probably be Tim McGraw”
