California country artist Amanda Kate knows a thing or two about moving around. The rising artist recently released her debut album Time including her catchy and autobiographical single “Gyspy.” After a whirlwind 2019 that included a packed west coast tour schedule, Amanda topped off the year with some big recognition from Cowboy Lifestyle Network, NashVegas and more naming her an “Artist to Watch” in Music City in 2020. It’s no wonder with her poignant lyrics, powerful voice and passionate dedication to her craft. She explains the song is a tribute to her mother who has never been known to stay in one place.
“I wrote Gypsy with my mama and one of my really good friends Chris Carothers. We wrote this song because by the time I was 16 I had moved 36 times in my life. My mom never could stay in one place too long,” Amanda says, “and with her being a musician we had to move where the gigs were so we always called her a Gypsy. I thought it would be fun to write the song but give it an upbeat and fun twist about always wanting to get up and go.”
