Afghanistan combat war veteran, Bree Jaxson, will be releasing her brand new single, “Make Me Hate You” tomorrow (2.5.21.) Got Country is proud to share the exclusive premiere a day early!
The track starts off with a melancholy feel from the very beginning. You can feel the heartache and pain in Jaxson’s voice. When asked about the song, she said, “This song still breaks my heart every time I hear it. I wrote this from a very vulnerable and confused place. My husband and I were separated at the time and couldn’t figure out whether to pull the trigger on divorce. We knew we loved each other, but it wasn’t working. Nothing major had happened between us we just couldn’t get on the same page and I remember after seeing him, feeling like I wish he would do something to make me hate him so this choice would be easier and that’s when I wrote a song about it.”
As I said, you can hear the pain, and feel it with the lyrics. “Make Me Hate You” shows that sometimes it’s just easier to hate the other person because the pain of losing the love is just too great. “Make me hate you. Make me not want to feel your kiss again. Make it too hard to say ‘I love you’ when the pain starts again.” Take a listen below and let us know what you think!
