The Country Music Hall of Fame® and Museum set an all-time attendance record in 2013, museum officials announced today.  The 2013 attendance total of 668,777 people is the largest in the institution’s 46-year history.

“We would like to thank our local, national and international visitors for such strong support,” said Museum Director Kyle Young.  “Through November 2013, our operating revenues increased by about 25% over prior year, we held expenses in check, and we expect those numbers to hold through December 2013.  In these challenging economic times, we don’t take this for granted.

“We attribute the strong year to several factors,” Young continued.  “We had a great mix of exhibitions:  The Bakersfield Sound:  Buck Owens, Merle Haggard and California CountryCarrie Underwood: The Blown Away Tour; and Reba: All the Women I Am, as well as a dynamic schedule of live programs and events.  Our major expansion, now nearing completion, brought many new spaces for our visitors to enjoy in 2013, including Hatch Show Print, the CMA Theater and the Taylor Swift Education Center.   Finally, Nashville continues to be a red-hot tourist destination, and we are happy to contribute to and benefit from this.  It’s exciting to see our city and industry be recognized for all that it has to offer.”
