Country Music Association announced plans today to rebrand and expand the annual Global Artist Party during CMA Music Festival in June. The announcement was made by CMA CEO Sarah Trahern during the Second Annual International Marketing Summit at The O2 in London.
“The Summit was the perfect platform and this was the ideal audience to announce the strategic growth of the international showcase from a club gathering to a main-stage event,” Trahern said.
Presented under the “CMA World” global brand, the CMA World GlobaLive concert will be held Monday, June 2 (6:00-11:00 PM/CT) on a free, outdoor stage on Broadway in downtown Nashville. The concert will be open to the public and feature performances by Country Music artists from territories including Australia, Canada, New Zealand, Sweden, and the U.K.
The concert began in 2004 as the Global Artist Party with standing-room-only crowds of enthusiastic fans.
“Moving this incredibly popular event from a club setting to a large stage with international food and beverage vendors will enhance the experience for our visiting artists, and create a bigger platform to reach an even broader audience of fans and press from around the world,” Trahern added. “Country Music is not limited by its American roots. Closer than a click, through technology we are reaching a broader audience and developing new fans around the world.”
Advancing Country Music worldwide is CMA’s mission. Today’s International Marketing Summit was the culmination of a four-day Country Music takeover of Dublin and London with the CMA Songwriters Series; C2C (Country to Country) at The O2 in Dublin and London; a ground-floor research initiative; educational panels for aspiring songwriters; as well as a BBC taping with “Brad Paisley & Friends” at the iconic BBC Radio Theatre.
