Father’s Day is quickly approaching, and to honor the special day, we caught up with Chris Bandi. His current single at radio is “Would Have Loved Her.” If you haven’t heard it yet, grab a tissue & hit play.
The idea behind the song came to Bandi as he thought about his grandfather who passed away six months before meeting his girlfriend. He knew that grandpa would’ve loved her as much as he does, and an incredible story began. The tear jerker was co-written by Bandi and Zach Kale. When Bandi pitched the idea to Kale, he learned that Kale’s father passed away before he met his wife, and they knew what they had to write that day. You can hear the story in Bandi’s own words here.
The song has taken on a life of its own and blew up on TikTok as it was used to share inspirational stories of loved ones. With Father’s Day just days away, we wanted to make sure this song is on your radar! When asked what Father’s Day means to Bandi, he said, “I know that I will never be able to say thank enough to either one of my parents for everything they have done for me. My dad was the kind of dad that never missed a game or practice! He was always pushing me to be the best that I could be in whatever I set my mind to. I think Father’s Day is just a great way show appreciation to the role models who helped us get to where we are today!”
Other than showing dads love on their special day, gifts tend to be given as well. Bandi said, “My dad was always the kind of guy that when you asked him what he wanted as a present he would always say ‘for you to be happy,’ so that made getting presents pretty difficult, but one year I got him a signed Ole Miss jersey by his favorite football player and had it framed. The worst present is probably the nest doorbell camera I got him that’s still sitting in the box!” It sounds like “Papa Bandi” has a big heart and only wishes for his son’s happiness.
We wish all of you dads a very happy Father’s Day weekend!
