Who The Hell Is Ciara Rae? Well, she is an “American Wild Child”, not scared to let her vulnerable side through, yet she is bursting with confidence and independence. These four traits, across four tracks, come through strong in her new EP, “Who The Hell Is Ciara Rae”, and they are all the personalities that allow us to truly connect to a country record.
The fun and light-hearted “American Wild Child” is an excellent first impression, and an easy listen.
“When You Come Around” shows a much deeper side and is packed with raw emotions. Rae is honest in her words, and simple in her approach. It proves how much of a message she can portray just behind the strength in her voice.
“I wake up every morning trying to be,
Something flawless, something everyone wants to be.
And when I think I do, I stand tall on cloud 9,
Because perfect is the only way I’m told to be in life.
But then you come around, and that’s when I’m unwound
Yeah when you come around,
I see a love, I truly thought could never be found”
“Sidelines” comes in confident with an upbeat intro, and one message, Ciara Rae is not messing around. Her voice is powerful and has a heated tone that lasts throughout, until the instrumental break captures all the feelings running wild in this song and ties it together perfectly.
“Slow Burn” finishes this EP off with that perfect mix of revenge and independence and is a role that we love to play as listeners. We cannot help but immerse ourselves into this song as the lead, and belt out that feeling of being confident and in control.
Ciara Rae’s EP has a little bit of everything, and with her strong lyrics and the voice to back each emotion with perfection, I am anxious to see how she continues to grow with her music throughout her career.
