“I love it here in Ottawa,” Mike Fisher, told reporters Wednesday at his annual hockey camp, reports Canada’s CTV. Fisher says that he and his new bride plan to remain in Ottawa for as long as his team, the Senators, wants him. So how does Carrie feel about calling Canada home?
“She likes it, she knows how much I like it, and I want to stay here my whole career if possible,” says Fisher. “We’re both comfortable here. Home is where we are, so let’s make this home.”
Given their work schedules, “Probably the airport will be the main residence,” he concedes with a laugh. “There will be lots of traveling. We’ll be all over, so it’s all good.”
Currently, the couple divide their time between homes in Nashville and Peterborough, Ontario. But come the time he’s played out?
“When I’m done [with] hockey, she’ll still be working. I’m sure she can always work. We’ll settle in Nashville. I love it there. I’ve got lots of friends there now, I love the area. I like a lot of things about it. There’s a nice church that we love, that we go to … that being said, it’s a little ways away. I want to obviously play a few years, a bunch of years here yet,” he says, according to the Ottawa Sun.
“We obviously want kids, but that’s down the road,” he also says. “Now is not the time, especially with our busy schedules, everything we’ve got going on. We don’t know exactly when, but definitely we will.”
