Get To Know Adam Gregory

Got Country had the pleasure of sitting down with Adam Gregory. We quickly learned that Adam is a laid back roll with the punches kind of guy. Once again you (our readers) took control of this interview by submitting your questions for Adam. We learned a lot about Adam and though he says he leads a simple life and there is nothing too exciting about him, we have to disagree. Adam’s story is pretty incredible.

Though he’s just 23 years old, Adam Gregory draws on more than a decade’s worth of writing and performing experience. Growing up in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, Adam’s musical journey began when he wrote his first composition at age 12. Major label talent scouts quickly recognized Adam’s budding talent, and signed him to a record deal with Sony Canada when he was just 13 years old. After recording his debut album, Adam launched into life as a road warrior opening shows for the likes of Alan Jackson, Keith Urban and Lonestar. The lessons in performing and engaging a crowd turned out to be just as valuable to him as his math or science studies.

Although Adam has made several musical connections since arriving to Nashville just under two years ago, Adam attributes his success to God, his family, and his fans.
“I believe God put me on this earth to sing,” Adam admits, “He’s blessed me with a gift, and I’m just so honored to share it with people.” As for the fans Adam says, “You’ve got to remember that the fans are the boss,” Adam explains, “and I want to leave people wanting more when they go home. The most important thing is that they leave with a smile, and I’m going to make sure that happens. I’m the artist who stays after a show for four or five hours. I don’t care how long it takes. The fans pay money to come and see me, so I give it right back to them.”

Adam has also been bitten by the acting bug. He will be joining co-stars John Schneider and Maxine Bahns in “WWJD” set to release by the end of this year. Although “WWJD” was not Adam’s first acting gig, it is the first role that mimics his own life and allows him the opportunity to mesh his music and faith.

Once again Thank You for your questions.

“I always wear a cross around my neck,” which you can see in the Crazy Days video.” I carry God with me on my neck so he can watch over me and keep us all safe on the road.”

“I have a shield to that stuff and not let things get me down. I try to stay positive in a crazy world.”

“Playing my guitar, drawing and building model cars. My parents always thought I would end up being a mechanic because I used to take all of my remote control cars and put them back together.”

Pat McGee: These Days

Pat McGee Band is one of the most successful touring bands nationwide, bringing original rock trademark rich harmonies, heartfelt lyrics, strong musicianship and energy to shows that are flat-out fun. Over the last fourteen years, the band typically performed around 250 shows a year–selling out many top venues and building a strong nationwide fan base. The band has been on the bill with major artists such as, Allman Brothers Band, The Who, Fleetwood Mac, Jimmy Buffett, Counting Crows, Blues Traveler, and James Taylor.

With Pat McGee’s most recent album, These Days“, the most heart wrenching track has got to be “Come Back Home” . This comes mainly from the strong and powerful message that the lyrics bring, but to understand the song you have to understand the story behind the song.

“It started off as a story about the distance between a military couple– those many miles and oceans apart, stretches of time. As we were working on that track, the band suffered a major blow. Our longtime drummer and friend of over twelve years, Chris Williams, passed away suddenly. We were shaken to the core, and his family was devastated. So, the lyrical content was crafted to tell both stories: being away from someone you love and also hearing the news of their passing and just not wanting to believe it all.”

To make the story even more heart-wrenching, Williams’ little brother, Blake, was killed last year in Iraq on patrol. “He served our nation in the Army Reserves, and he had dreams of coming back to the States and taking up where his brother left off,” says McGee. The Pat McGee Band made a video tribute to all of the courageous men and women that they had lost in the month of March in the video for “Come Back Home”.

These days is sure not to disappoint any new age country fan. It is a mix of upbeat songs with a rock flair and some nice slow ballads.

Due to the latest hoopla over camera’s not being allowed at Kenny Chesney shows (they have since decided against banning them) we wanted to know what you guys thought of the issue. Should camera’s be allowed at concerts? Personally I feel like they should. You spend your hard earned money to buy a ticket to the event, you want to capture all the fun and excitement.

Show Off Those Pearly White’s Dave

Dave Haywood has alot to smile about. Not only is he part of the HOT trio Lady Antebellum, but fun little fact for you. His father invented the nightguard teeth-whitening method, which has garnered worldwide use in the last 20 years.

“He’s a dentist, and back in the 1980s, he came up with the procedure,” Dave explains to GAC. “He’s been on ‘20/20′ about it and everything. In the dental world, he is a rock star. He’s the Bruce Springsteen of the dental world!”

You can have your chance to check out Dave’s pearly whites at the CMA Fest in Nashville in less than two weeks, or you can catch him on tour this summer with Kenny Chesney
